Selena Gomez, who will star in Harmony Korine’s new film Spring Breakers, is having a big week in the press. She is on the cover of Cosmo and PEOPLE StyleWatch, her baby-faced boyfriend Justin Bieber reportedly may have proposed to her (or maybe he just gave her a sweet little ring for Valentine’s Day) and she announced on Facebook she will split with her backing band the Scene to focus on making movies. Her role in Spring Breakers will be a big departure from the kind of stuff that has made her millions of dollars and got her millions of fans on Twitter. But Gomez sounds happy to ‘soil things a bit’ (as PopCrush.com described it) by taking the role with Korine (who they described as a ‘subversive director’). She told Star Pulse: “I had to fight for that role because I flew to his house in Nashville and watched all his movies. I was like, ‘I want to be in your movie’ and he auditioned me for like an hour or two hours and it was awesome. Then I got the part so I am excited. It is something that is very dark and is very different and I am excited to be able to work with him. Of course he is the person that is going to create all of this and he is going to help me and James Franco, Vanessa [Hudgens], Emma [Roberts] and all those people. They are all going to be so great to work against and the script is [great]. People are going to be a little surprised.” And we’re are definitely excited to see her get a bit deviant on the set of Spring Breakers, which is currently shooting in St. Petersburg, Florida.
